Fulham will be hoping to have a massive impact on the Premier League in the coming season as they make their return to the top flight following their playoff victory last term.

The Cottagers, led by charismatic manager Slavisa Jokanovic, already have a talented squad to choose from, and added further to that talent by splashing the cash on French midfielder Jean Michael Seri just a few weeks back.

However, more is likely to be needed in terms of goals for the Cottagers, and we at the Transfer Tavern had been keeping a close eye on the World Cup over in Russia, hoping to pick out some potential talent for the Premier League new-boys.

Indeed, one player who impressed was Belgium star Dries Mertens, who despite not always being a regular for Roberto Martinez, offered a key contribution to his country as they finished third overall.

The wide attacker, who is valued at a whopping £27m by Transfermarkt, has been in superb form for a number of seasons now for his club side Napoli, and has earned a reputation as being one of the most lethal marksmen in the country when on form.

Fulham are going to need goals to ensure they stay up, and while Seri might be a brilliant addition in the middle of the park, signing someone with proven quality and the ability to get goals and assists at the top level would be a shrewd piece of business by the club.

The 31-year-old is a superb, proven player, and Fulham would surely have no regrets in signing the Belgian if they can secure a deal.

Fulham fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
