Fulham have struggled to adjust to life in the Premier League, but things appear to be heading in the right direction under miracle worker Claudio Ranieri.
The Cottagers will be desperate to enjoy a run of positive form under the Italian boss, with the January transfer window helping their cause. And, it appears as if he is already looking at potential additions, as according to The Mirror (via Nottinghamshire Live), Fulham are weighing up a bid for Joe Lolley.
Fulham are understood to be weighing up a bid for the 26-year-old ahead of the January transfer window, with Newcastle United also looking to do the same.
Joe Lolley has been one of the standout performers in the Championship this season, so a move to the Premier League would be just reward for the winger.
However, despite all of the interest, Nottingham Forest boss Aitor Karanka had this to say on the winger’s future:
“No, because now he is very good but football can change a lot,”
“All of them are, but Joe is one of those who was desperate to come here. He is showing that he is enjoying it a lot.
“He had a chance maybe, or there were rumours, at the beginning of the season and he said he wanted to stay here because he came here to be successful – and he’s being successful.”
Fulham could do with bringing in another winger to try and help them produce more in the final third, with the likes of Andre Schurrle and Aleksandar Mitrovic being their only contributors on a regular basis.
So, with Joe Lolley finding the back of the net and providing assists on a regular basis, it comes as no surprise that Claudio Ranieri is weighing up a bid for him.
The Cottagers did spend heavily during the summer transfer window, which hasn’t necessarily benefited them, so they may want to be more cautious with how much they spend in January as a lot of summer signings haven’t lived up to expectations just yet.
