Report: Scott Parker provides positive update ahead of Huddersfield clash
Scott Parker has given his Fulham side a clean bill of health ahead of tonight’s game against Huddersfield Town, reporting that the squad is ‘fully fit’ for the match at the John Smith’s Stadium.
The Whites got their campaign up and running with the win over Blackburn Rovers last Saturday, and tonight’s game gives the opportunity for Fulham to inflict further misery on Huddersfield, who are yet to win this season and were beaten at home in midweek by League One Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup.
Parker has revealed, via the club’s Twitter account, that the team are well prepared for tonight’s game, saying: “The squad’s fine, fully fit. We’re prepared for Friday’s game.”
However, the 38-year-old warned of the threat that the Terriers pose in his pre-match press conference, with Parker expecting a tough game against the side that finished 10 points below Fulham last season.
He said: “It’s a wounded animal we’re going to play, a team that’s going to come out fighting, scrapping, and trying to do everything they can to get the result.
“We’re fully aware of what we’re going into. Last year we went there and it was a tough game with the crowd behind them, so we’re not expecting anything different.”
Huddersfield earned the first of their three Premier League victories last season when they ran out 1-0 winners last November – though Fulham returned the favour by reversing the scoreline when the sides met again just before the new year with a late Aleksandar Mitrovic goal.
Parker’s comments could spark some positivity ahead of tonight’s match, with the manager not only having a full squad to choose from, but his Fulham side having the potential to take advantage of a full week’s worth of recovery with the team not in League Cup action.
And should Huddersfield be demoralised as their winless start to the campaign continued against lower league opposition on Tuesday evening, Fulham may well have an opportunity for the taking with three points on offer in West Yorkshire.
