‘Fully deserved’ – West Ham fans on Twitter find something to celebrate after club’s post

The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news that their big Austrian forward, Marko Arnautovic, has been crowned Hammer of the Year in his debut season at the London Stadium. The 29-year-old has scored ten goals in his 27 Premier League appearances for David Moyes’ side and without his influence, the club could’ve been playing in the Championship next season.

Arnautovic jumped ship from Stoke to West Ham last summer for a club record fee for the Hammers. Since his move, ‘Arnie’ has proven his doubters wrong, despite getting off to a rocky start having been sent off in his second game for the club away at Southampton. The forward also had a long wait for his first goals in claret and blue as he failed to net for the Irons until December, when he scored the only goal in a superb 1-0 win over Chelsea.

The Hammers propping our bar up are all in agreement that their explosive forward deserves the Hammer of the Year award as he joins an exclusive club of players to have won the award. Sir Bobby Moore, Sir Geoff Hurst, Sir Trevor Brooking, Rio Ferdinand and Paulo Di Canio are just a handful of former players who have won the prestigious award for the Stratford club. Arnautovic will be hoping it’s the first of many awards he picks up in his West Ham career as he looks to finish the season strongly in front of the London Stadium faithful.
