Indicative of the malaise Memphis Depay has been marooned in since he joined Manchester United last summer, the Red Devils in the Transfer Tavern met reports from the Sun with a mere shrug of the shoulders.

They claim that the 22-year old Dutchman has had crunch talks with boss Louis van Gaal after losing his place in the first-team in recent months.

Having been benched for the games with Crystal Palace and Leicester City, the former PSV Eindhoven forward is believed to have met with van Gaal.

Following his £25m switch to Old Trafford in the summer, he has scored just two goals in the Premier League after starting brightly in the Champions League qualification rounds.

He was heralded as the future of the Oranje after notching 22 goals for PSV last term, though has crumbled under the weight of expectation.

He has been linked with moves to West Ham United and Southampton this summer after enduring a frustrating maiden campaign.

Should Man United cut their losses with Depay? Or can they risk him another season?
