‘Future club legend’ – Man City fans loved the club’s midfielder Twitter post

The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been showing the love for their German international midfielder and ex-Borussia Dortmund man, Ilkay Gundogan. The 27-year-old is currently celebrating his two-year anniversary since joining the Citizens as Pep Guardiola’s first signing and he’s been at the peak of his powers this season.

Gundogan has been superb since he joined the club both on and off the pitch. The classy central midfielder had an injury layoff not long into his first season as a Manchester City player, seeing him miss the entire 2016/17 season. However, the German has come into his own this season, making 49 appearances for the Premier League champions, scoring six goals and registering seven assists in that time.

Gundogan has won over the large majority of City fans with his professionalism on the pitch and his quirky nature off of it and the fans will be looking forward to seeing more of the midfielder in Manchester in the coming years. The German, who’s amassed 24 caps for his country, will be setting his sights on a Champions League victory, after coming up short in the 2013 final against Bayern Munich, despite scoring in the 2-1 loss at Wembley five years ago.
