Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are nervously biting their lips as they await new concerning a club legend, who may be on his way out this summer.
The Sun states the final decision on whether John Terry is handed a contract extension with the Blues hinders on new manager Antonio Conte, who will hold talks with the Blues legend before making his decision.
Terry sensationally revealed earlier this year that he’s likely to leave Stamford Bridge, as his contract is due to expire this summer and he’s yet to be offered an extension. However, if Conte deems the player useful he will stay put.
The former England captain will have plenty of suitors if he does leave Chelsea and Conte has plans of his own either way, as he’s preparing a £25m swoop for Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci regardless of whether Terry stays or goes.
Given the circumstances surrounding Jose Mourinho’s exit, Terry’s loyalty to Conte will be tested and the experienced Italian boss will be keen to ensure there is no gears grinding in his new-look Chelsea side.
