Garth Crooks: Sterling is the catalyst of keeping City’s dream of the quadruple alive

Manchester City have been simply sensational in recent times, which can be partly put down to the efforts of Raheem Sterling who has gone up a couple of gears.

The Citizens’ chances of securing a quadruple were boosted on Saturday as they managed to secure a rather controversial win over Swansea City in the FA Cup.

Indeed, one player who has been on the mind of many supporters in recent times is Raheem Sterling. The Englishman has defied expectations in the current campaign and his recent performance against Schalke was one of his best in a Manchester City shirt, so he will play a monumental part from here on in until the end of the season.

Although, it looks as if supporters aren’t the only ones acknowledging his recent form as BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks included the attacker in his team of the week column. Crooks praised the Manchester City man for his performance against Swansea City on Saturday, as he shared a few kind words.

‘The England forward is unplayable at the moment.’

‘Sterling has become a game changer and the catalyst of keeping City’s dream of the quadruple alive.’

Garth Crooks got his selection spot on in terms of Sterling as he ran some of the Swans’ defenders ragged and won the penalty for his side to help get City back into the FA Cup tie.

Raheem Sterling has developed into one of the best attackers in world football in the current campaign having produced an impressive 19 goals and 16 assists in all competitions. He’s spearheaded Manchester City’s push for silverware this season and he’s far from finished, with plenty more goals and assists to come.

Lots of fans often speak about the influence of Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sane but Sterling has overshadowed almost all of his teammates in recent times, so he deserves some recognition.
