Some Arsenal fans may see today’s clash with Stade Rennais as one of the biggest games left in their season as the thought of spending another season in the Europa League would be frightening.
However, it looks as if the North London club are set to lose a player in the near future, as according to football.london, Gedion Zelalem could be on his way out of Arsenal.
What’s the News?
It’s understood that talks are continuing between Arsenal and MLS outfit Sporting Kansas City over a permanent deal for the German-born midfielder.
Interestingly, the MLS season has only just got underway, so the move can now happen.
Zelalem has shown plenty of promise during his time at the Emirates but he’s never managed to reach his full potential, which can be put down to a number of injuries and loan moves.
Gedion Zelalem is a name that some Arsenal fans may not recognise as he has spent the majority of his time out on loan and in recovery after making his senior debut back in the 2013/14 season, when he became the youngest ever player to represent the club in the FA Cup.
The Gunners won’t be too bothered about potentially seeing him go as he never really managed to live up to expectations and there’s currently no place for him in the side, with a number of midfielders already at Unai Emery’s disposal.
Arsenal have produced a number of exciting talents over the years, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Emile Smith Rowe being examples of that, and Zelalem could have joined that list but it just wasn’t to be.
