The Everton fans who are gathered around the pool table in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing comments made by an international manager with regards to taking over at their club.
The Express is reporting comments made by current United States manager Jurgen Klinsmann, who has dampened speculation which has linked him to taking over at Goodison Park this summer.
Pressure is increasing on current Everton manager Roberto Martinez who has seen his talented side underperform in the Premier League this season.
Last night saw his Everton side held to a goalless draw in what was another lacklustre performance from the Spaniard’s side at Crystal Palace last night.
Despite reaching the Semi-Final stage of both the Capital One Cup and FA Cup this season the fans are not happy and have let it be known in recent weeks, and with Leighton Baines last week suggesting that there is no chemistry between the players, it appears that Martinez is starting to lose the dressing room. Speaking about the speculation Klinsmann said:
“Rumours are wrong! Not going anywhere and Everton FC has a fantastic manager in Roberto Martinez!”
Our landlord in The Tavern can not believe that Everton are even considering parting company with Martinez as he feels he is one of the brightest young managers in the game today.
As for the Everton fans they feel that this is the most talented squad they have had for years and they should be at least competing for a place in Europe and the abject performances are down to Martinez and his tactics.
Should Everton keep Martinez or find someone new? Let us know in the comments below!
