There are some raised eyebrows here in the Football Transfer Tavern after the Daily Mail claim that David Luiz has one less suitor interested in him.
The Brazilian defender has been constantly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge since the return of Jose Mourinho and has shown exactly why.
Luiz may be a fun character and a certain fan favourite, but he is a liability at times when it comes to his defensive play.
Luiz is sloppy on occasions and error prone, which as one of our punters notes, is certainly something that Mourinho does not enjoy seeing.
Despite that, the Brazilian had been linked with a move not only to Catalan giants Barcelona, but also Bayern Munich, who boast former Barca manager Pep Guardiola at the helm.
Munich had been thought to be considering a move for the former Benfica defender this winter, yet club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge dismissed speculation.
“There’s always lots of speculation and it’s extreme in England, but I can say for certain that he is not an issue for us,’ said Rummenigge.
“I personally hope that Holger Badstuber comes back (from injury). That would be a new arrival who would do Bayern a lot of good.
“He’s a great lad and an important player for us.”
Of course, our ever wise landlord notes that Barcelona are still keen on the player and Mourinho is not convinced, meaning a move is still a possibility.
Will Luiz be remaining in West London this January? Let us know your thoughts below.
