Bayer Leverkusen’s tenacious midfielder Arturo Vidal is being lined up as a £10million acquisition for Chelsea. The Chilean international has caught the eye after several outstanding displays in the Bundesliga which has helped his team up to third place in the league.
Vidal, 23, is a tough tackling player and his style of play will see him naturally adjust to life in the English premier league and challenge the likes of Jon Obi Mikel and Ramires for a starting place. Chelsea have struggled of late and it’s believed they are in the market for another centre-back to join Vidal, should he leave Germany.
He signed for Leverkusen in July 2007 for approximately £4.5million has already made 28 appearances for his country and he stood out in a very talented Chile side that eventually went out to Brazil in the last 16.
He has become an integral member of the first team this season and his form hasn’t gone unnoticed and rumours suggesting he was close to extending his contract until 2015 have stalled with Chelsea in hot pursuit.
