There’s a growing presence of Arsenal supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern this afternoon as they get settled for another day in the tavern’s beer garden. Talk among the Gunners fans has turned to whether or not Arsene Wenger should hold onto German international Lukas Podolski this summer.
The discussion has arose after The Sun linked the 27-year-old, who has over 100 caps for his country, with a move to defeated Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund next season.
Podolski only arrived at the Emirates Stadium last summer but has failed to shine in North London following his £11 move from Cologne and Wenger could be ready to move the German star on again this post-season. Dortmund are ready to test the waters after seeing Mario Gotze leave for Bayern Munich and striker Robert Lewandowski likely to follow him.
Spanish side Atletico Madrid are also thought to be interested in Podolski after losing star striker Radamel Falcao to Monaco earlier this week and could challenge Dortmund for the striker, who netted 16 times in his first season at Arsenal.
Wenger is believed to have £70 million to spend this summer and is looking to build on his squad rather than losing any players.
