Reports over the last 12 months had suggested that Arsene Wenger was planning a summer move for the Schalke youngster but that now looks highly unlikely.
According to Metro, Draxler has confirmed that he has no interest in leaving the German club and wants to stay in the Bundesliga.
The German international midfielder has also been linked with Bayern Munich in recent times – showing just how highly sought-after his signature is.
But Schalke have qualified for next season’s Champions League having finished third in the Bundesliga this season and they will be glad that their best players want to stay and fight their cause.
Draxler staying put means that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger may raid West London outfit Queens Park Rangers for their star striker Loic Remy instead.
Remy has been on-loan at Newcastle United this past season and has impressed at the club but it’s unlikely that the Frenchman will rejoin the Magpies again, paving the way for the Gunners to make their move.
Arsenal fans. It’s a shame that Draxler won’t be coming to the Emirates, but is Remy a decent buy? Let us know your thoughts below.
