The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that David Moyes will consider the possibility of promoting some youth players to the first-team squad in the near future.
West Ham have been resurgent under the leadership of David Moyes in recent weeks, although though they still have plenty to do if they wish to avoid the drop this season. Moyes may wish to use the January transfer window to bolster the options available to him within his squad, but there is evidence to suggest that he may not need to get his cheque book out just yet.
The club’s official Twitter page posted a video yesterday containing a fine individual strike from 20-year-old Martin Samuelsen for the U23 squad during their fixture against Manchester United on Monday.

Samuelsen picked up the ball on the left-side of United’s area, drove into the box with purpose and teased with his opposite number before slamming the ball into the roof of the net.
It seems the supporters on Twitter were very impressed by what they saw of their young talent during the brief clip, and plenty of Hammers have began calling for Moyes to give him an opportunity in the first-team.
Samuelsen did make an appearance on West Ham’s bench for their FA Cup third round tie with Shrewsbury, but he wasn’t introduced into the action at any point.
Here’s what The Hammers faithful had to say in response to the club post…
Martin Samuelsen ,a class act on and off the pitch !

Of all the youngsters I think this fella should be around the first team, great skill and has something different to offer from sideways and backwards passing!

This is one of the many players who would have been hungry to impress versus Shrewsbury. Instead we had to watch Kouyate and co jog around half hearted.

Need to get him in the first team as soon as possible, he is a creative player, a constant threat and physically strong as well…he works in silence and I have no doubt he will be a top player in the future

We need him in the starting 11, someone with his attacking ability, he might make West Ham fun to watch

Play him or loan him. He deserves to play.
