Chelsea fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern should brace themselves for a double reunion according to Rob Beasley of The Sun.
If as expected, Jose Mourinho is to be shortly unveiled as the clubs new manager, then he will be brining Michael Essien back with him.
Essien was a Mourinho signing back in 2005, and the 30-year-old has just completed a season long loan with his father figure and mentor at Real Madrid, where he made 28 appearances and scored one goal for Los Blancos.
Essien has just one year remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, but Mourinho is keen to bring the Ghana international midfielder back with him.
Essien spoke of the special relationship he has with the self entitled Special One even referring to Mourinho as ‘Daddy.’
He said: “We have a very good relationship. I understand him very well. Daddy knows I can play in any position he wants me to, except goalkeeper.”
Essien was part of Chelsea’s golden generation under Mourinho, winning two Premier League titles, two league cups and an FA Cup during the Portuguese coach’s first stint in charge of the Blues.
