Everton fans are desperate to see a new centre-back arrive at Goodison Park this summer.

The Toffees needed to address their defensive problems last summer and opted to sign Michael Keane from Burnley for £25m. Despite Keane’s first season on Merseyside being one to forget, the Englishman needs a better centre-back partner in order to excel in a blue shirt.

Phil Jagielka is approaching the end of his career, and his performances are declining as a result. With Ashley Williams failing to impress and Ramiro Funes Mori leaving the club, Everton need to sign a new centre-back this summer. New boss Marco Silva should look to the Bundesliga to solve his problems.

The ideal partner for Keane could be Borussia Monchengladbach ace – Matthias Ginter. Valued at £22.5m according to Transfermarkt, the 24-year-old joined the club from Borussia Dortmund last summer and was a key player for his new side. He made 34 appearances in the Bundesliga last year, and his market value increased as a result.

Ginter has all the attributes to be a success in the Premier League. The German is great on the ball and has the passing range of a midfielder. Last season, he retained a higher pass completion average (87%) than Everton’s entire squad (WhoScored). He is also a huge threat from set-pieces, Ginter was second only to Naldo in goals scored by defenders last year.

Still only 24-years-old, the Germany international is still improving. Everton could land one of the signings of the summer by bringing him to England.
