Chelsea’s so-called Loan Army is full of exciting talent, and each year without fail, the fans in the Transfer Tavern wait to see if any of the pack are going to make the cut at Stamford Bridge.
This summer will likely be no different, with a handful of players set to return to London and likely hoping to receive a call from the Chelsea manager.
One such player is Marco van Ginkel. The Dutchman has been out in the cold at Chelsea for a few years now, but he has finally found his feet on-loan at PSV. Having captained the club to the Eredivisie title, the midfielder has certainly caught the attention of our resident Blues.
Whether he’s going to ever return to Chelsea, though, remains to be seen. Clearly, though, it’s something that fans want to see.
We recently polled Chelsea supporters on whether van Ginkel is good enough to play for the Blues, and it’s fair to say that a lot of players are on the side of the Dutchman. The results, which can be seen below, have revealed that a whopping 76% of fans think that he’s good enough – whilst just 24% of supporters are on the other side of the fence.
It’s clear, then, that Chelsea supporters would be interested in the prospect of him getting a chance in the first team next season, and that’s with good reason. Having bagged 14 league goals this season, the Dutchman’s hugely influential role in the heart of the PSV midfield is evident.
He’s finally showing the sort of form that earned him a move to Stamford Bridge, and it would make sense for the club to give him one last chance, especially given the poor form of the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Tiemoue Bakayoko.
