‘Give the lad a chance’ – Everton fans call on Koeman to start 27-year-old against Sunderland

Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern have been less than impressed with their side following a run of four successive defeats in all competitions.

The Toffees opened up the campaign with a 1-0 win over Stoke and indeed reached the group stages of the Europa League, although things have gone downhill quickly at Goodison Park since then.

Ronald Koeman’s men have lost to Chelsea, Tottenham, and Manchester United in recent weeks and also went down 3-0 to Atalanta in their opening European clash – a run which has seen the club fail to score, slip into the Premier League’s bottom three, and turn up the pressure on manager Koeman.

Nonetheless, they have the chance to get back to winning ways this evening when they host Championship side Sunderland in the third round of the Carabao Cup, although Koeman is likely to make several changes to his team given their European commitments.

And many Evertonians have taken to Twitter in recent times to advise the Dutchman on who to play against the Black Cats, with several fans hoping that one man in particular gets a starting berth at Goodison Park this evening…
