The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern were thoroughly impressed by the quality of Oleksandr Zinchekno’s performances last season, so they are understandably concerned by reports which suggest he will depart the club this summer.
Pep Guardiola was forced to adopt a pragmatic approach to his left-back problem last season after his mega-money summer signing Benjamin Mendy was ruled out for the majority of the campaign on only his 4th Premier League appearance for the club.
Fabian Deph performed admirably in Mendy’s absence for the majority of the season, but Zinchenko was also given a handful of opportunities to impress at full-back, despite being an attacking-midfielder by trade.
The Ukrainian international appeared composed in unfamiliar territory and he consistently proved to be a dangerous asset in the final-third, however, the quality of his performances may not have been enough to convince Guardiola to keep him at the Etihad this summer.
According to journalist Martin Blackburn who works for The Sun (via CityWatch), City will offer Zinchenko to Napoli in a part exchange swap deal for Jorginho this summer.
Considering City’s interest in Jorginho has been well documented in the British media for the entirety of 2018 so far, the proposed deal seems incredibly plausible, but the supporters are far from happy about using Zinchenko as bait to secure the Italian’s signature.
In response to reports, the supporters expressed their admiration for Zinchenko and encouraged the club to keep hold of their 21-year-old rising star this summer.
Here’s what the City fans on Twitter had to say in response to the Zinchenko reports…
No, give them Bravo instead

Zinchenko has been a solid back up option while Mendy and Delph were out. Not sure how I feel about this.
