Few transfers have gone as poorly in recent years as that which took Alexis Sanchez to Man Utd. The Chilean moved to Old Trafford from Arsenal, and it’s fair to say that it hasn’t gone to plan.
He’s struggled for form and he’s also lost his place in the squad at Old Trafford on more than one occasion, and now he’s set for a spell on the sidelines with a big injury.
Truthfully, Man Utd must be regretting the decision to bring the Chilean in, and they would be absolutely right to do so. He’s been an unmitigated failure.
His latest injury should be the last straw Man Utd. They can’t afford any passengers, and make no mistake, that’s exactly what Sanchez is at present.
Fortunately, there is plenty of alternative talent that the club could turn to in search of a winger that is worthy of wearing the shirt.
With that said, Mourinho would finally see Man Utd flourish with these 2 signings…
One issue that Man Utd have had is the fact that so many of their attackers prefer to play on the left, Sanchez included. This has meant that the attack at Old Trafford isn’t particularly fluid, as generally speaking, at least one player is out of position.
So, in search of a replacement for Sanchez, perhaps they could look to sign a ring-winger to solve their problems, and they’d struggle to find someone better than Florian Thauvin.
He’s turned into a completely new player since his time at Newcastle, and last season he was undeniably one of Europe’s best – and he’s arguably been even better this term.
Having already scored 10 goals this term, the winger has a real eye for a goal, whilst his energy, technique and pace all combine to make him a deadly threat.
He’s in the prime of his career.
Thorgan Hazard’s name has been passed around frequently over the last few weeks, and whilst suggesting a move for him from the perspective of Man Utd is nothing new, the simple fact of the matter is that Eden’s younger brother would be absolutely perfect for the Premier League, and he’d be an ideal replacement for Sanchez.
Like Thauvin, he’s had a fantastic season, and it’s undoubtedly been his best campaign yet.
Hee’s scored 8 goals and bagged 5 assists, but beyond that, his directness and energy, like his brother, has simply been too much for so many of the players that he’s come up against.
At 25-years-old, he’s in the prime of his career, and the Red Devils would truly struggle to find a more in-form player.
