Palace fans over here in the Tavern were ecstatic when they heard the latest update on star man, Wilfried Zaha. Crystal Palace official Twitter account have tweeted an update on Zaha’s condition, stating that he is recovering “ahead of schedule” but that he is yet to do any twisting and turning on the knee.
RH: Wilfried is recovering ahead of schedule, but he’s still mainly doing straight running. He’s not doing the more complicated twisting, turning and contact with other players yet.#CPFC pic.twitter.com/qBppB1v01c

This news comes as at a good time for Palace as they find themselves one point clear of the relegation zone with just ten Premier League games left to play. Astonishingly, Crystal Palace are yet to win a league game in which the 25-year-old is unavailable for, playing eight games whilst the Ivorian is unavailable losing all of them and scoring just one goal in that time.
That stat alone proves Zaha’s significance to Roy Hodgson’s side and with a tricky run of fixtures coming up in March that include games against Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool, Hodgson will be hoping he can have his key man back in the side and scoring goals to give the Eagles a chance at Premier League survival.
Going back to the start of October, it looked very unlikely that Palace had any hopes at survival as they lost their first seven games without scoring a goal, a run which saw newly appointed Dutchman, Frank De Boer, sacked just four games into the season. Since De Boer’s sacking Roy Hodgson has steadied a Palace ship that looked destined to sink, with big wins against Chelsea, Stoke, Leicester, Watford, Southampton and Burnley.
Hopeful Palace fans will be optimistic seeing as the club still have time to increase the gap between themselves and the relegation zone and if they can get Zaha back and playing to his best then they’ll have every chance of extending their longest run in the Premier League by another season.
