Arsenal are closing in Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno, according to the Telegraph, and supporters of the north London club are delighted with the imminent signing.
Much was expected from Arsenal’s current first-choice goalkeeper Petr Cech when he joined from London rivals Chelsea back in 2015. However, the Czech has disappointed, failing to replicate anything close to the form he displayed at his previous club.
At the age of 36, now is without a doubt a good time to replace Cech as the No.1 at the club and Leno could be a suitable successor.
Of course, ideally, Arsenal and their supporters would like to see a goalkeeper such as Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak or AS Roma man Alisson come in. After all, who wouldn’t?
But with Oblak’s £87m release clause and Alisson’s rumoured £79m price tag, Leno represents a more attainable option.
And while the German goalkeeper may not be of the same ability as the likes of Oblak and Alisson, he’d still arguably be an upgrade on the declining Cech and David Ospina.

Leno is a good signing as he’s a big improvement on what we have, hopefully he will rediscover his form from a couple years ago. Still young, and still time to improve. Liking this new era so far.

Signing leno is a good thing. He’s a promising keeper and we need a keeper. Cech is old and ospina.. well, he’s inconsistent
