Good for Pogba: Man Utd are already making plans for the summer transfer window

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for Jose Mourinho’s revolution to continue this summer. The Portuguese has overseen a period of change at Old Trafford since he moved to Manchester, with a flurry of players coming in and a number of former stars departing in favour of fresh talent.

The Red Devils, though they have improved this season, remain some way off Man City in the Premier League, and so Mourinho certainly has his work cut out this summer as he looks to bridge the gap.

It’s no real surprise, then, that he’s already making plans to that end, and according to the Independent, a big target has been identified. The Independent are reporting that Toni Kroos is a key target of Mourinho’s this summer, with the club reportedly looking to find a partner for Paul Pogba in the midfield.

They have apparently been alerted to a potential rejig at Real Madrid this summer, with a number of once-indispensable stars potentially available – of which Kroos could be one.

Paul Pogba has come under fire over the last few weeks for his poor performances, with the Frenchman unable to find his best form alongside Nemanja Matic in the midfield. Typically better at playing in a midfield three, Kroos would – in theory – likely come in as that third option, providing a balance in the middle of the park that is currently lacking. As a result, Kroos’ potential arrival will be great news for Pogba, in particular.

Of course, he won’t be an easy player to land, and even if Real Madrid are open to selling him, they’ll demand a big fee – but the 28-year-old is undoubtedly the sort of player that the Red Devils need.

Landlord’s Verdict

In Matic, Man Utd have a defensive force that is superior to most of the other midfielders in the Premier League. Likewise, if played in his preferred left-sided central midfield position, Pogba is undoubtedly one of Europe’s best all-around midfielders.

However, they’re lacking someone that can sit between them and pull the strings. Kroos is, undoubtedly, that sort of player. He’s won everything there is to win, and for both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, he has been consistently one of Europe’s best.

If Man Utd can land him, that midfield trio will be one of the best in the world – with the perfect balance of defence, creativity, and attack.
