The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reading a story from Phil Hay in The Yorkshire Evening Post that claims Leeds are set to miss out on Barnsley right-back Andy Yiadom. The 26-year-old will be joining Reading after Barnsley had their relegation to League One confirmed, and the fans are pleased he won’t be joining Paul Heckingbottom in swapping Oakwell for Elland Road.

Leeds suffered a dire season in 2017/18. The club started well enough and came into the new year hanging onto 6th, although things went very downhill from there as they finished the season 13th. The Whites will be targetting a play-off place next season and will need to be smart in the summer window to make that a reality. The club already have Luke Ayling, Gaetano Berardi and Lewie Coyle, who’s returned from his loan at Fleetwood, filling the right-back spot, meaning they don’t need Yiadom.
Whilst there’s no questioning that the 26-year-old Ghanaian has been one of the stand-outs for Barnsley this season, Leeds fans are all confident that the decision to not reach out to the player with a contract offer was the correct one. The club need to sign experienced Championship players who have proven that they can hack it consistently in the second-tier, and whilst Yiadom isn’t an awful option, the club should definitely be looking at stronger options as they plan for a Premier League return in the near future.

He was never wanted . Ayling and Coyle will be enough for RB .

He’s not needed. Ayling and Coyle are fine.

RB about only position we don’t need someone

Why is this even news? We didn’t even put a bid in. Might as well have an article saying that messi isn’t coming to Leeds. Waste of internet space.

Good move from Leeds. Too many times we've signed a player for the wrong position for the sake of it & ayling has the right back spot. If de bock isn't the answer or Pearce then we need a left footed left back.
