The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern were relieved when Ashley Young managed to bag the winner against Brighton over the weekend. It was a tough game for the Red Devils, and a draw would have been damaging to their standing in the Premier League, and so it was essential that they left Old Trafford with the three points.
There’s no time to celebrate, though, with another difficult game on the horizon on Tuesday against Watford. Marco Silva’s side have looked very good this term, and so Jose Mourinho will be feeling rather concerned ahead of the game.
Fortunately, Man Utd have received some good news ahead of the fixture, and it comes to us via Ben Dinnery on Twitter.
Michael Carrick is close to a return following his recovery from a minor heart procedure. Eric Bailly is hoping to be available soon while defensive teammate Phil Jones is progressing after aggravating a thigh injury on international duty with England. #MUFC

Though this doesn’t suggest that any of those players will be fit against the Hornets, it’s clear that a return for at latest one of them will be coming at some point in the next week or two. Michael Carrick appears closest to a return, but the progress being made by Marcus Rojo and Phil Jones offer reason for optimism for Mourinho.
With so many fixtures on the horizon over the festive period, the Red Devils need as many bodies as possible, and this report suggests that this is exactly what they will be getting.
Michael Carrick hasn’t played much this term, but his role in the squad is key, and so Mourinho will be glad to have him back.
Both Marcus Rojo and Phil Jones contribute so much on the field whenever they are fit. The Red Devils’ brass will be desperate to fast track them back into the first team.
Tuesday may come too soon, but their return is coming.
