The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their side to finally spend a bit of money this summer…
A solid 2-0 opening day win for the Lilywhites has certainly eased fears amongst the fans in the Transfer Tavern, but they are under no illusions ahead of the rest of the campaign.
Indeed, it’s clear that bigger tests are to come, and with a tough game against Chelsea next weekend, the fans are hoping that Mauricio Pochettino will use the prospect of the game as a catalyst to call for new signings.
Fortunately, Tottenham have recieved a boost in that regard over the last day or two, with Dutch publication Telesport reporting that 21-year-old defender Davinson Sanchez wants a move to White Hart Lane this summer. It is said that a move of over €40 million (£36.3 million) will be enough to get the deal done.
Sanchez would become Tottenham’s first major signing of the summer, with the Lilywhites struggling to recruit adequately so far this year.
Should he make the move, he would become another former Ajax star within the side, with Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen all formerly representing the Dutch outfit. This will certainly bode well if he does move as it suggests that adaption will be relatively easy.
Tottenham have had a quiet summer, but it’s clear that a few signings are needed over the coming weeks.
Defensive depth is certainly something that the club needs, and Sanchez has really impressed in the Netherlands lately.
An excellent passer, tackler and reader of the game, he certainly has the quality to succeed.
His signing is an expensive one, but he’s worth every penny.
