‘Good riddance’, ‘Get rid’ – Spurs fans slate club lynchpin following agent’s admission

The Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting some major changes at the club this summer ahead of their stadium move, and one player who the fans are rather surprisingly eager to sell is Mousa Dembele.

The Belgium international became something of a media sensation last season when he orchestrated proceedings against Juventus during Tottenham’s last-sixteen Champions League clash at the Allianz Stadium, but it seems the supporters have become disillusioned with his lack of end product.

According to the London Evening Standard, Dembele’s agent Tom De Mul has publicly stated that his client will decide his future after the World Cup and that no contract will be signed until the tournament is finished.

Considering Dembele has just 1 year left on his current deal at Spurs, it’s no surprise that speculation is beginning to intensify regarding his future.

In response to Mul’s comments, the Lilywhites faithful on Twitter directed plenty of criticism in Dembele’s direction and called for him to depart the club this summer.

Dembele’s inability to add goals and assists to his outstanding performances has been cited as a justification for this widely held opinion, which is difficult to argue with based on his return last season.

It’s difficult to understand how a player with such immaculate technique and composure in possession managed to finish the season without a single goal or assist to his name from 39 appearances, but regardless of his abject statistics, there’s no doubt the anti-Dembele brigade will miss their midfield general if he eventually leaves the club.

Here’s what the Tottenham fans have had to say about Dembele on Twitter…
