‘Good riddance’, ‘Thanks for nothing’ – Man United fans on Twitter delighted by recent transfer update

The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Jose Mourinho will take a leaf out of Pep Guardiola’s book this month.

Manchester City have stormed ahead in the Premier League this season for a whole host of reasons, but their summer clear out in 2017 which saw the likes of Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna, Joe Hart, Samir Nasri and Aleksander Kolarov all leave the club has certainly been a major factor in their success. The Red Devils have been forced to endure the taunts of The Citizens in the tavern on a regular basis so far this season, and they are starting to become fed up of their club’s failure to reach the standard set by City.

Considering City have been vastly improved since they instigated a summer clear out, it might well be time that United adopted the same ruthless attitude and began cutting some deadwood from their squad.

And according to reports in The Sun, a mass exodus could be set to begin this month, as Marouane Fellaini has reportedly turned down a contract extension in favour of seeking a new challenge away from the club.

Unsusprisngly, the news has been greeted with delight by the United supporters on Twitter who believe the Belgian is well below the standard that is expected of players at the club.

Whether Fellaini’s decision will encourage Mourinho to force more players out of Old Trafford remains to be seen, but the supporters are just happy that progress is being made to improve the squad.

Here’s how the United fans reacted to the latest update on Fellaini’s future…
