‘Good riddance’ – Tottenham fans on Twitter turn on star as saga looks to continue

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern were drowning their sorrows this weekend after a bitterly disappointing Premier League result.

Tottenham dropped out of the top four this weekend for the first time since September after they battled to a 1 all draw against West Bromwich Albion. The club’s ambitions of mounting a title-challenge for the third season in a row now appear in urgent need of re-evaluation, as the Lilywhites sit 13 points behind league leaders Manchester City after just 13 games.

The future of Danny Rose remains an inconclusive mystery that continues to persist as a major side-story within the narrative of Tottenham’s season so far. Mauricio Pochettino chose to leave Rose out of the match-day squad altogether for the visit of West Brom which sparked plenty of conversation on Twitter concerning his whereabouts.

In the absence of Rose, Tottenham struggled to play with the fluidity and zip that normally characterises their Premier League performances.

The supporters are firmly divided on how significantly the absence of Rose impacts the overall team performance and whether Ben Davies can meet the standard set by Rose in previous seasons.

Plenty of supporters remain furious with Rose for his disrespectful comments towards Tottenham in the summer and are eager to see the club cash in on him in the January window for a fee in excess of his true value.

But there remains supporters on the other side of the argument who would be devastated to see the England left-back depart in January.

Here’s what the fans had to say after Rose was left-out of the match day squad.
