‘Good times ahead’ – Liverpool fans on Twitter feeling pleased as Klopp adds to his cause

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news that Phillip Jacobsen has been appointed as the clubs new medical rehabilitation and performance manager. The German has previously worked for the Qatar national team and for Aspetar, one of the leading sports medicine hospitals and he’ll now head up Liverpool’s Melwood-based medical team with Dr Andrew Massey. Fans can read more on Liverpool’s website.

Whilst getting Jacobsen to Merseyside isn’t quite as exciting as the Fabinho deal was or any news of Jurgen Klopp’s pursuit of Nabil Fekir will be, it’s still a big appointment for the Reds to have the German on their backroom staff. The Anfield faithful will all have put the Champions League final to the back of their minds as they prepare for the World Cup over the next month, however, they’ll be looking to improve next season.

Going one step further in the Champions League is an unrealistic ambition for the Kopites, although you can’t stop the fans from dreaming. The club have looked to improve in the transfer market and bringing in Naby Keita and Fabinho to the Liverpool midfield has been a big step in the right direction. The fans will be hoping the best is yet to come from the club in the window as they prepare to drown their Champions League sorrows with plenty of World Cup football.
