‘Good to have him back’, ‘Sell him’ – Liverpool fans left divided by recent injury update

Liverpool supporters have been pretty despondent in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side’s 18-match unbeaten run in all competitions come to an end courtesy of a 1-0 defeat away at Premier League strugglers Swansea City on Monday.

Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their clash at the Liberty Stadium having not tasted defeat since a 4-1 hammering at the hands of Tottenham back in October, and off the back of beating runaway leaders Manchester City 4-3 at Anfield. However, the Reds produced a lacklustre display and were deservedly beaten by Carlos Carvalhal’s side, with an Alfie Mawson strike just before half time enough to seal the victory for the Swans, at the same time denting Liverpool’s top four aspirations.

Consequently, there have been many downbeat Liverpudlians in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are sincerely hoping that Monday’s result and performance was nothing more than a blip, and as such normal service will be resumed against West Brom in the FA Cup this weekend.

And there is some injury news coming out of the club which is sure to be of interest to our resident Reds fans, with captain Jordan Henderson reportedly set to return to the squad for the visit of Alan Pardew’s Baggies on Saturday.

The England international picked up a hamstring problem in Liverpool’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Arsenal just prior to Christmas and hasn’t featured for the side since, but could well make his return to action at Anfield this weekend.

Unsurprisingly, news of a possible return for Henderson has stimulated quite a response from Reds fans on Twitter, and it’s fair to say that not everyone is delighted to see the skipper return…
