The talk of the Transfer Tavern today could simply only be one thing – the raids on the offices of West Ham and Newcastle at their respective stadiums.
Indeed, the news broke earlier today that police had gone into both clubs to seize different pieces of potential evidence in an ongoing investigation – whilst there were also arrests being made.
Sky Sports were quick to report this story this morning too, then, and many of our Magpies and Hammers supporters have been concerned ever since as they wait to see how this situation is going to pan out over the coming days.
Of course, though, as is the way with football fans, many were quick to make jokes about the situation and one was certainly more prominent than most – courtesy of Spurs and, indeed, Newcastle fans.
Here, then, is what went on on Twitter:

Imagine HMRC are investigating Newcastle for fraudulently claiming Moussa Sissoko was a professional footballer before selling him to Spurs pic.twitter.com/LRC5KbV792

Receiving £30m for Sissoko was always a bit suspect like

To be fair, anyone who sells Moussa Sissoko for £30 million needs investigating.#nufc

Could this raid on NUFC lead to Moussa Sissoko being returned and a full refund being granted.
