The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been throwing happy birthday messages at their 30-year-old striker, Javier Hernandez. The Mexican striker struggled in his debut season at the London Stadium, having his game time limited with a lot of appearances coming off the bench. Despite this, the striker still managed eight goals for the club, and they’ve tweeted a happy birthday message for him today.

Hernandez has represented some of Europe’s top clubs in his career, including the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid, however, as he enters the latter stages of his career the prolific Mexican has taken a step down to relegation battling West Ham. The Hammers have struggled this season and the goals of Hernandez and his big Austrian teammate, Marko Arnautovic were integral to them staying up.
Whilst his domestic campaign with West Ham was slightly underwhelming, the striker can look forward to the World Cup in Russia with the Mexican national team. Chicharito and co will be up against Germany, Sweden and South Korea in Group F and if the side manages to get through their group they’ll be up against one of the sides from Group E, likely to be either Brazil or Switzerland.

At least someone at the club appreciates him, even if it is the social media intern.

Happy Birthday Chica! I hope you stay on with us and hopefully Pelligrini will use you properly unlike Moyes!
