Southampton fans here in the Tavern are fearing for their future in the Premier League, with the hope that their latest transfer agreement can ensure safety.
Mauricio Pellegrino has had a torrid first season as Southampton manager as his side look to be facing the Championship next season. Although, after offloading the world’s most expensive defender Virgil Van Dijk, the Argentine is looking to spend his cash wisely in desperate times at St Mary’s.
And, they look to have made great strides in doing so, as according to a report from Sky Sports News’ Twitter account, the Saints have agreed a £19.1 million fee with AS Monaco for Guido Carillo.

Southampton made it clear that they desired a striker this transfer window, with Carillo being consistently mentioned as the primary target for Argentine Manuel Pellegrino.
And, after having a £17.6 million bid rejected for the Argentine earlier this week, they’ll be happy to have finally come to some sort of agreements on a fee for the 26-year-old.
For a player that the Saints boss previously worked with in his home country of Argentina, the forward’s 20 goals in over 50 games since signing for the French club has led to an underlying interest that has finally seen a deal pushed through.
A quality signing for the Saints, with them in desperate need of a goalscorer it looks as if the Argentine can put smiles on fans faces once again if his goalscoring record is anything to go by.
Although, should they fail to avoid relegation, then the price of the player may fall considerably with the 26-year-old only having the desire to play in the English top-flight.
