Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are still devastated following their Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid though, after the signing of Fabinho, our punters are optimistic that the club will return to another final soon.
The Reds performed admirably in Kiev, two goalkeeping errors from Loris Karius and a wonder goal from Gareth Bale denied them their sixth European Cup. Despite the defeat, Jurgen Klopp’s men are heading in the right direction – securing a top-four finish for the second consecutive season. With a few signings in the summer, Liverpool can challenge again.
The German has already completed his first transfer deal, completing a £39m deal for Monaco midfielder Fabinho. A new goalkeeper will also be a priority as well as a new winger to allow Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah to rest. The perfect signing would be Fulham winger – Ryan Sessegnon.
The 18-year-old has burst on the scene following a stellar season in the Championship. He netted 15 goals in 46 appearances in the league which has seen his market value skyrocket to £22.5m according to Transfermarkt. He is able to play at left-wing or left-back meaning he can cover a variety of positions.
The youngster scooped the PFA Young Player of the Year award for his performances as Fulham earned promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs. He wouldn’t be cheap, but he would be worth an enormous price tag.
Beating Tottenham and Manchester United to his signature would be one of Liverpool’s best moves in recent years.
