The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager to see how their side copes against Man City this weekend. The Reds are behind their Premier League rivals in the English top flight, but they’ve impressed in recent weeks, leading many to believe that it will be a close game.
Fortunately for Liverpool, though, they’ve received a boost that could well give them an edge come Sunday, with the Liverpool Echo reporting that Mohamed Salah is winning his race to come back from injury for the game.
Salah has missed the last few weeks through injury, and whilst the Reds have done well in his absence, there is no doubting that he is crucial to this team. He provides an attacking edge that they have otherwise lacked this term, and so Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to get him involved once more.
His return is particularly timely given the departure of Coutinho. It’s unclear just how the Reds will cope with the Brazilian’s absence, but Salah’s return to the attack will certainly help to make things slightly better.
Whether he’s at 100% remains to be seen, but even a half-fit Salah is worth risking – especially in a game of this magnitude.
Salah has been so important to this Liverpool team all season long.
If they are to stand any chance of winning this game, they need the Egyptian to be on top form. Judging by his performances this term, though, they’ll have little doubt that he will be at his best.
It will be an important game for Liverpool. A loss could see Spurs catch them up in the Premier League, whilst a win will ensure that they don’t lose pace on Chelsea and Man Utd ahead of them.
