The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted about the news surrounding Michael Carrick…
According to the BBC, the Englishman is set to get a new deal at Old Trafford – securing his future at Man Utd for another year.
The 35-year-old has been in stellar form this season, and whilst he is no spring chicken, his role within the Man Utd first team cannot be undervalued.
In a summer that could see the departure of Wayne Rooney, who has hardly played this year, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, whose contract runs out at the end of the season, the absence of leadership within the Man Utd dressing room is clear – and so Carrick will have a big role to play both on and off the field.
Very rarely do the fans in the Transfer Tavern agree on something, but there is a unanimous sense of delight in the pub this evening.
Unsurprisingly, the Man Utd fans on Twitter have had a very similar response – taking to the platform to express their joy at the news of the impending deal…
Carrick for one more year?
Experience in the looker room is important, plus many more reasons on why he deserves to stay.#mufc

Carrick renewal. That's good but that doesn't mean he will play every game. Plus a coaching role. Expect a new CDM, but who… #MUFC
