The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to their club’s video, reminiscing over the fantastic goal scored by Wayne Rooney against West Ham four years ago. United will be hoping some of the current crop of pros can take inspiration from Rooney’s stunning 60-yard lob when they travel to The London Stadium tomorrow.

Wayne Rooney scored a number of memorable goals in his Manchester United career, although one of the few that really stands out is the lob vs West Ham. Just over four years ago in March 2014, Manchester United travelled to Upton Park to take on West Ham, two goals from the incredible Wayne Rooney secured them all three points, although one of the goals stood out much more than the result did. Rooney saw an opportunity when the ball fell to him in his own half and he fired a shot up and over Adrian in the Hammers goal into the back of the net.
The goal itself was incredible and will go down as a Rooney classic, leading to the fans drawing similarities between his strike and David Beckham’s goal from his own half against Wimbledon. The current scene for West Ham vs Manchester United has changed dramatically. For one, The Hammers now play their home games at The London Stadium as opposed to at Upton Park, and with United only having played at the ground once before they’ll be keen to take their record there to two wins out of two after winning 2-0 at the ground last season.
