Man City fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have been on edge all day as news has broken that they are closing in on one of the biggest deals of the summer window.
According to reports from BBC Sport, Man City and Everton are close to finalising a deal for £50m rated defender, John Stones.
The reports suggest that the two clubs are in talks and are not too far apart in their valuations of the England international.
The 22-year-old was close to a move to Chelsea last summer but The Toffees managed to hold onto their man but it looks like new manager, Ronald Koeman, may not be able to do the same this year.
The Sky Blues boss, Pep Guardiola, has been clear in his admiration for the former Barnsley man, and Stones is a player that fits the Spaniard’s mentality.
Speaking on Wednesday, the former Bayern boss said: “”But we need to have a good build-up to create easy passes in the midfield so they can create good passes for the strikers. I believe when the ball goes from the central defender to the striker as quickly as possible, it comes as quickly as possible back.”
Man City fans, we want to hear from you! How big of an addition would Stones be to your side? Is he worth the £50m Everton are asking for him? Let us know below…
