Guardiola concern could lead Man City to making major January transfer splash – report

The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t too concerned about their team at the moment. It’s been a fantastic first-half of the season for the Citizens, and at present, no other team looks close to catching them.

However, it doesn’t appear as though that confidence is shared by Pep Guardiola. According to Manchester Evening News, Guardiola is concerned that his side won’t be able to cope with the rigours of the second-half of the season, with the Citizens seemingly eager to attempt to land the quadruple. As a result, Alexis Sanchez is apparently back on the January wishlist of the Spaniard, and a move could be made this month as a result.

It would send shockwaves to Man City’s Premier League rivals if they were to sign Sanchez given how good he has been in recent years. His contract expires at the end of the season, and so a move then is likely, but a move this January will no doubt make them even more deadly than they have been already this season.

A talented attacker, Sanchez would add further pace and quality to the Man City attack, whilst also reducing the goalscoring load currently placed on the likes of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus. Alongside that aforementioned duo, it’s fair to say that Man City’s attack would be frightening if Sanchez moved.

Whether Man City seal this deal remains to be seen, but it appears as though Arsene Wenger can expect an approach in the coming weeks.

Landlord’s Verdict

Man City don’t really need any more attackers, but Sanchez isn’t a player that you can turn down if you get the chance to sign him.

He’s proven in Europe, he’s proven in the Premier League, and – significantly – he’s proven under Pep Guardiola. He ticks all the boxes, and that’s a worrying prospect for Man City’s Premier League rivals.
