A few big changes are needed this summer for that to be the case, with the Man City fans entering the pub every day hoping for another deal to be tied up.
The core of any team, of course, is the defence, and whilst Pep Guardiola is a manager famed for his offensive ideas – it would appear as though the defence is his priority this summer when it comes to transfers.
According to the Daily Star, Guardiola wants to sign four fullbacks this summer, with the likes of Kyle Walker, Dani Alves, Benjamin Mendy and Ryan Bertrand all featuring on his transfer list.
This has come as music to the ears of the fans in the pub, with our landlord identifying the Man City defence as the weak point of their side. Whilst players like Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne are likely to dominate going forward next year, an emphasis on defensive solidity is always important.
It is going to be an expensive summer for the Sky Blues, but a very important one nonetheless.
