Guardiola looking to continue Man City revolution with 23-year-old duo being considered

The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting big things this summer, especially given the recent capture of Bernardo Silva…

The Citizens appear to have set the tone for the rest of the close season, with a number of new deals likely to be concluded over the coming months. It seems that, according to the Independent, some of these deals could come in the form of defenders – with the publication noting that Pep Guardiola is keen on rebuilding his backline this summer. It is noted that 23-year-old duo Aymeric Laporte and Marquinhos are both being considered, with Guardiola keen to secure a deal for one of the defenders.

Laporte, of course, is one of Europe’s most talented young defenders, having really made a name for himself in La Liga in recent years. Marquinhos, meanwhile, made news for his huge move for PSG several years ago, and he has since impressed for the French outfit.

Of course, it will come as no surprise to learn of Man City’s reported interest in improving their back line, with the Citizens’ defence clearly the weakest area of their first team. Whilst players like Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero made waves going forward, they were really let down by the lack of strength at the back.

With the likes of Gael Clichy and Pablo Zabaleta leaving the club this summer, our landlord thinks that a defensive rebuild is certainly on the cards.
