The Manchester City fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern cannot wait for the start of the season with Pep Guardiola on a spending spree during his second summer at the helm.
The former Barcelona boss has been continuing his overhaul of the squad, drastically bringing down his side’s average age, especially in the full-back department.
Having already brought in England international Kyle Walker, there was talk of his Three Lions teammate Ryan Bertrand being another option for Guardiola at left-back.
However, according to reports from Mail Online, the Sky Blues have now made the decision to end their interest in the Southampton full-back, as they move closer to a deal for Real Madrid’s Danilo.
The £17m-rated defender has impressed on the south coast ever since his £1om move from Chelsea after an initial loan from west London, and has become a key member of the squad at St. Mary’s.
However, with the club used to selling their top talent, the powers that be are now looking to ramp up the price for any sales this summer, perhaps putting off the likes of City somewhat.
City fans, we want to hear from you! Do you think Bertrand would have been a good addition? Let us know…
