News has made it’s way into the ear of the Landlord here at the Football Transfer Tavern today that may reassure Man City fans who are becoming worried about the fortunes of one of their key players after the Euros 2016.
Shampoo connoisseur, Joe Hart, has not only royally embarrassed himself and his nation this summer but put his place in Pep Guardiola’s squad in doubt, as The Express are reporting that the new boss is looking for Argentinian shot stopper, Geronimo Rulli, to offer competition for the 29-year-old.
The 24-year-old, who has spent the last two seasons with Real Sociedad, kept twelve clean sheets in 36 La Liga appearances last season and is reportedly moving to the Ethiad for £7.5m.
Our Landlord pointed out that whatever happens, City will need to bring in a new goalkeeper this window, with Hart’s understudy, Richard Wright, having recently been released by the club. However it is the general consensus in the Tavern that whomever is brought in should be able to put much more pressure on City’s no.1 than Wright did in his four years at the club.
City fans, what are you thinking? Should Guardiola make signing a top notch goalkeeper a priority or do you still have faith in Joe Hart? Let us know in the comments below…
