As quoted by TeamTalk, Pep Guardiola has refused to rule out a move for Celtic striker Moussa Dembele who has impressed greatly this season north of the border.
The news has certainly excited our resident Citizens here in the Transfer Tavern who know all too well just how good the former Fulham forward can be.
The young striker scored a brace against them at Celtic Park earlier this season in a thrilling 3-3 draw in this year’s Champions League whilst he also bagged a hat-trick against Rangers in the first Old Firm Derby of the campaign.
That has seen many of our punters here by the bar sit up and take note of how good the young striker could be and when asked about a potential move for him Guardiola couldn’t say no and instead heaped praise on the player.
The former Barcelona man said:
“If you read the newspapers in the last six months, since I became a coach at Manchester City, maybe I have had contact with 126 players to buy them for Manchester City.
“Dembele is another one. Every week I have contact for the next season to change players. Alexis [Sanchez] was the last one.
“But the quality [in Dembele] is there. He is an exceptional player.”
The two sides meet tonight in the final Champions League group stage game with Celtic already heading out of the competition.
They look good for the Scottish top flight title once again, though, and that is largely down to the goals of Dembele since his summer move.
Meanwhile, our landlord thinks he’d be a top signing for City and would go from strength to strength under Guardiola.
