Guido Carrillo admits his Southampton career is still uncertain - Latest News

Southampton have certainly enjoyed life under Ralph Hasenhuttl, however, they have not quite got their neck out of the woods at the moment. The Saints are sitting in a rather precarious position in the Premier League and will know that they have to win every game to ensure they do not give Cardiff City a chance of escaping.

Regardless of what division Soton find themselves in next season, there will be a number of changes in the summer and one man could find himself apart of the axe the Austrian manager is likely to wield.

What’s the News?

Speaking in an interview to Agencia EFE (via Mundo Deportivo), Guido Carrillo has revealed he does not know what the future holds for him.

The forward is currently on loan at Leganes, and although he admitted he would have to return to Southampton, he wasn’t able to talk too much about his plans once the campaign comes to an end.

“We’ll see, it’s still missing,” he said. “The truth is that I don’t know anything. In principle I have to return to Southampton because I have no option to buy but you will see what happens at the end of the season.”

The Verdict:

Carrillo has been nothing but a rather expensive flop for Southampton during his time at the club after he was signed for a fee of £19.2million by Mauricio Pellegrino in the winter of 2018.

He made just a handful of appearances in his first six months at the club and failed to find the back of the net before he was sent out on loan and reunited with the former Saints boss.

The 27-year-old has fared better in La Liga, having netted five goals in his 25 appearances for Leganes, so there could be a chance that Hasenhuttl will take a look at him in the summer before making a decision on his future.

However, Southampton could look to cut their losses on the Argentine and look to try and recoup some of the money they spent on him, although it is almost certain that they won’t get the full £19.2m back for him.

Southampton fans, what do you think the future holds for Carrillo? Do you think Hasenhuttl should take a look at him or just try to offload him in the summer? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
