Arsenal fans have reason to be cheerful this evening in the Football Transfer Tavern, as sources at the Daily Mirror are adamant that Alexis Sanchez is not the only imminent arrival at the Emirates Stadium.
The publication reckons Arsene Wenger is close to completing the £8 million signing of France international striker Loic Remy from Queens Park Rangers, after a summer long chase.
The 27-year-old spent last season on loan at Newcastle United, and enjoyed a successful spell with Alan Pardew’s side, firing 14 goals during a campaign which was disrupted by injuries and a three-game suspension.
Arsenal have held a long-term interest in the former Marseille striker, who was pictured watching the Gunners from the stands during their home victory over West Bromwich Albion in April.
A deal between the two clubs for Remy’s signature is understood to be close, although personal terms are yet to be agreed.
Arsene Wenger has been under pressure to add new striking options for some time, with Olivier Giroud carrying the burden alone up top for much of last season.
Remy is set to follow Chile international Alexis Sanchez to the Emirates, with the 25-year-old Barcelona star said to have turned down Liverpool and Juventus in favour of a £130,000-a-week contract in North London.
