Things are really starting to heat up in the Football Transfer Tavern as writer for the Telegraph, Jeremy Wilson has told us that two first team regulars could well be leaving Arsenal now that their contract negotiations have stalled.
Both Theo Walcott and Bacary Sagna have reached the stage where they are willing to reject the contract offers put to them by the North London club and go elsewhere. The Walcott situation has been much publicised, but it is the decision to only offer Sagna a one year extension that has really riled Gunners fans.
Sagna has twice been named in the Premier League team of the year and is regarded as integral to the Gunners success and whilst he may no longer be a spring chicken, the player is understood to be disappointed with the length of the contract extension, despite stating that “I love playing for Arsenal, I still do.”
With Arsenal struggling yet again this season and more pressure being heaped on both the players and manager, yet more rumours of departures will not go down well with loyal fans who in recent years have seen their club become a feeder for sides such as Manchester City and Barcelona. Fans are fast losing patience with the man who they used to claim knew best.
What do you think? Is one year more than enough for a player over 30 or will Wenger rue the day he let another player leave? Vote in our polls below.
