Everton held Chelsea to a goalless draw on Sunday afternoon at Stamford Bridge, however, the point may have come at a cost for Marco Silva’s side.

The Toffees were resolute in the way they played and frustrated Maurizio Sarri’s side throughout the game, with a number of their players playing starring roles.

However, the injuries to Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson will have certainly damped the mood slightly.

The Iceland international had to come off the field in the second half after a challenge from Jorginho, however, photos spotted on Twitter will have caused some Everton fans concern.

The midfielder, who has played a key role in Silva’s side this season, was spotted leaving Stamford Bridge with a protective boot on.

Although the extent of the injury is not known, Sigurdsson will miss the international break and there will be concerns on whether he will be available for the home clash with Cardiff City in two weeks time.

The Verdict:

Sigurdsson has been an influential player for Everton this season and the photo that has emerged will certainly concern those at the club.

The protective boot could have been used just as a precaution, however, there will be worries that he could be set to face a significant period of time on the sidelines.

The fact that he is walking without any further aid could be encouraging, whilst the two-week break could be enough time for him to rest and make a return.
